Day Twelve

Well, I’m writing this now, but I can’t post it tonight. Snow and heavy winds have knocked out our internet connection, so I can’t get this up and posted with picture and all. I could upload it via the WordPress app on my iPhone, but I don’t feel like putting forth that much effort :p Hopefully I’ll be able to upload it tomorrow.

Today was a good day, but a long one. Scott bought me a new little podium/desk thing to have in the front room while I’m having lessons with this children. It holds all of my teacher supplies, my iPad, and my keyboard. It will also hold my netbook if I need to code for my websites (I haven’t really given coding HTML and CSS a go on the iPad). It’s good for me to be out front in a central location with them all morning long, so this was a nice little gift from him :) I can generally do light writing while they’re working on school assignments or playing around me.

So today I did get a few things done in the midst of schooling and desk building and appointments and violin lessons:

  • I finished my post on clearing your email inbox (though tonight I won’t be clearing mine due to no internet!)
  • I purchased the domain for my niche site case study
  • I made a video walking you through purchasing a domain :) (it’s not live yet)
  • Tweaked my editorial calendar procedure a bit
  • Studied some influential Facebook pages
  • Added in notes to post to Facebook/G+ when I write an article.

I have an editorial calendar in Outlook and I leave the article’s reminder box open until I’ve finished it – now I will leave it open until I share the article. I have no problem sharing to Twitter but forget Facebook and G+ – hopefully this system will keep me there consistently.

I sent out the newsletter for one of my niche sites. I also got in the first proof concepts for a new logo for that site. I’m planning to slightly update the theme and do a consistent branding across my site and all social media; this is a first step.

Tomorrow I’ll do more with Facebook strategies. Since we may not be going to lessons tomorrow (if the snow doesn’t stop), I might end up getting quite a bit done. It’s a toss-up… sometimes when we get off the schedule, things go really badly. Other times it’s a blessing and a I get a lot done. I’m also supposed to speak at a homeschool event on Saturday… so we will have to see how the weather holds.
